Underwater Fire Detection Features at Fire Australia and HazMat 2017Tweet
To demonstrate the weather-tightness of our 5251B-WP analogue addressable heat detector, we installed one underwater in a fish tank on our stand at Fire Australia in Sydney (May 3rd to May 5th).
The 5251 series weather-proof analogue addressable heat detector is dust and water-tight to IP67. To achieve this rating, it does not have rotary switches. Instead, its communication address is configured electronically with a hand-held programmer. Also, the detector has a wire tail connection instead of the usual plug-in base.
The heat detector was connected to an F220 fire alarm control panel, which was the main feature of our display. The F220 impressed visitors with its large keys and big, easy-to-read display. Fire alarm users increasingly expect their systems to pin-point the exact location of any alarm. The F220 makes this easy. During a fire alarm incident the F220 displays the location of the first alarm on the top half of its screen. Below that the F220 presents a scrollable list detailing all subsequent alarms. The F220 identifies each location with a plain-language description, allowing fire-fighters and facility managers to quickly and accurately identify the exact source of each alarm.
Our stand also featured a Pertronic FireMap™ display. Whenever the F220 went into fire alarm mode, the FireMap screen automatically showed a floor-plan with a red icon showing the exact source of the alarm.
Fire Australia and HazMat is the Fire Protection Association of Australia’s annual conference and exhibition. It was an excellent opportunity to talk about the latest developments in professional fire engineering, and to showcase our products.
