The installation of Pertronic panels, and fire detection and suppression equipment in Brisbane’s Cross River Rail project is almost complete.

This comprehensive system builds on decades of Pertronic’s experience in partnering in Australasian transport systems including metro stations, large underground motorway projects and other rail ventures.

Cross River Rail is an underground rail project in Brisbane which includes a new line under the Brisbane River and the redevelopment of a number of stations.

It includes 5.9km of twin tunnels and four new underground stations and is the largest infrastructure megaproject ever undertaken in Queensland. In fact it is considered the highest infrastructure priority by the Queensland Government.

The four new underground stations (Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert St and Roma St) have 10-15 Pertronic panels each. These panels are linked to VESDA aspirating smoke detectors, smoke removal units, gas suppression devices (to protect railway switch rooms) and controlled sprinkler systems.

This system requires the networking of 47 Fire Indicating Panels in total, which covers 70 identified risks with gas suppression devices.

The main purpose of the Pertronic system is to safely, quickly and efficiently get people out of the stations in an emergency, and then look to protect the stations themselves.

Pertronic’s Queensland team has worked alongside contractor/installers to provide the most economically efficient systems, which protect people and property with the least amount of equipment.

Pertronic has also provided fire protection equipment for the Brisbane Metro. The company’s advanced fire detection systems are helping to protect this rapid bus transit network including water sprinkler and deluge systems.

Among other international Pertronic rail installations is the complete fire detection and protection of Auckland’s City Rail Link.

This is a 3.45km underground twin-tunnel loop, with four new stations. The CRL clearly demonstrates the combined knowledge, expertise and products that Pertronic applies when working with installer/contractors and the final client to optimise design and protection for key infrastructure projects.
